What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows us to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional Therapy is based on applied nutritional science and is recognised as a complementary medicine. It can be helpful for individuals with chronic health conditions, as well as those looking to support or enhance their existing health and well-being. Nutritional Therapy Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Registered Nutritional Therapist is a protected title which means that practitioners have gone through rigorous training and been accepted into the professional body BANT (British Association of Nutrition and Lifestlye Medicine. BANT ensures that its members attain the highest standards of integrity, knowledge, competence and professional practice.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and will always refer any client with ‘red flag’ symptoms to their medical professional.

Nutrients and other components of food can influence many functions within the body, protect against disease, restore health, and determine how we respond to our environment. Dietary intervention based on scientific evidence-based research can play an important role in the prevention, mitigation and improvement of chronic health conditions. My approach uses applied nutrition which tailors each plan to the individual in order to achieve the best results for them. I assess on the basis of overall health, lifestyle, medical history and most importantly, current diet. What is Metabolic Balance®?

Metabolic Balance® is very exact and uses 35 of your laboratory blood values, your current health symptoms and your medical history to create an individual nutrition programme that is completely unique. Although Metabolic Balance® is extremely beneficial as a weight loss programme, it is also successful at addressing many other health concerns. A typical plan tells you which foods (types of vegetables, fish, meat, cheeses, fruits etc.) are beneficial for your body. It also tells you exactly how much of the food you need to eat, in which combination, and even when you should eat them.
